Focus on one drawer, table, or surface today and spend 15 minutes making it pretty! (And take a pretty picture afterward to motivate yourself!)
(Prompt from Megan at Princess Lasertron)
I knew exactly what I wanted to tackle for this project...the picture wire hanging above our couch in the living room. I hung photos and Valentine's Day cutouts there last February--and they are still there. Lucas actually encouraged me to change it up last week, so this seemed the perfect motivation to get it done! The "15 minutes" turned into 2 days, though, since the project involved ordering new pictures to be printed, making new Christmas-y signs, and pulling out a few Christmas decorations. But, I am happy with the results and glad for the chance to share it with you!
Before:
Vacuum out, Wembley's blanket, Valentine's photo wire, just generally sloppy...
Much better! Junk put away, Christmas nicknacks out, and Valentine's photo wire replaced with Christmas-y photo wire!
Made the bell plate on the left in ceramics when I was little, the nutcracker is part of my collection, and the glass jar is full of silver glass ball ornaments and tied with a ribbon.
For the photo wire, I had pictures printed of Lincoln with a simple white border (from Walgreens). The Christmas squares are just scrapbooking papers layered together. I cut the shapes out of a paper grocery bag, then glued all 3 layers together. Found the patterns for the shapes here!
Looks great! You have done more holiday decorating than me so far. Keep up the good work.

I love simplicity! This is absolutely perfect! I still need to get that wire from Ikea, lol, but I need a better reason than that to go. :)
ReplyDeleteerika-i keep trying to think of reasons to go to Ikea, too :) Maybe we need to make it a mother's day out some time!
