Garage Sale Finds: Vintage Glass

Behold, my recent garage sale scores.  I may have a slight addiction to vintage glassware.  I am slowly replacing all of our glasses with thrifted printed glasses.

The pink depression glass piece is a candy dish I found at a sale in our neighborhood...the lady had bought a box of glass at an auction, but only wanted the bottles.  My quick research online tells me it is a Jeannette cube glass most likely manufactured between 1920-1933.  I find it amazing that I purchased a possibly 90 year old candy dish at a garage sale.  Depression glass is fascinating to me.

The pitcher and cups are probably not that old...but I like them.  And I now have way less room in my cabinets.

Thrifting and Garge Sale-ing

Last Saturday, Lucas, Lincoln, and I hit up a couple neighborhood garage sales. Then, after Lincoln went down for nap, I ventured back out to a couple more sales and a thrift store for a quick hour of fantastic finds!

Behold:

Framed embroidery...makes me happy and calm when I see it, so right now it is strategically positioned in the living room so it can be seem during those super fun tantrums Lincoln has been having...

Our loot: top left box--our major score of the day, a big box of Thomas the train engines, tracks, and accessories! $30 for the whole thing! We are saving it for Lincoln's birthday in December, and it feels great to already have it purchased (and for such a great price! Oh!! I never mentioned this, but we also have a train table we got FOR FREE that we just need to paint. Woohoo!). Moving on...top right box: Lincoln Logs! Whole box: $10. We've been watching for Lincoln Logs for awhile, for obvious reasons : ) Next: Cranium (great game), raccoon puzzle (inside joke at Lucas' office), Baby Signs book (research), water shoes, shorts for Lincoln, skirt and shirt for me.

And, a pretty vase because, as I've mentioned, I am a sucker for pretty glass.

Thrifting...again

Lincoln and I swung by another thrift shop on the way home from the park today. It was an impulse stop, but I'm so glad we did! This place is fairly new, and I hadn't been in before. We were the only shoppers, and I think we found some great finds! I say "we" because Lincoln let me know quite clearly that we were taking the lawn mower with us....

The goods, followed by some close-ups for your viewing pleasure. The basket is to hold our library books, since we have a problem with them getting mixed up with our regular books. The green bag was free for carrying our things home.

Lincoln's mower...I'm pretty sure it is one of those bubble mowers, but I haven't figured out where to pour the bubble solution in yet.

This game was a favorite when I was little. Can't beat it for $1.00.

A blurry picture of the jacket + belt combo I scored. All jackets were 50% off, so this cost a whopping $6.00. The belt was separate, but I think they work together...

8x10 picture frame, with Norman Rockwell print. I love Norman Rockwell. Hopefully my dad does, too, because he is getting this print as part of his birthday present when he comes to visit (don't worry, he doesn't read this blog...at least not often enough to see this before my mom can stop him, right mom??)

Book Worm and my thrift store finds

Lincoln LOVES reading books. As soon as Lucas gets home from work, Lincoln greets him by handing him a book and saying "uh uh uh!" That means, "read this now, Dad!"

Also. I went to the thrift store last week to look for a basket in which to keep all of our books. Came up empty handed in the basket department, but check out my other finds:

I'm a sucker for pretty glasses and vases. The blue tins I intend to use to plant herbs, and the frame is for a print I got for Lincoln's room. Not pictured: an awesome easel I found for $4.99! It just needs a coat of paint and Lincoln will be well on his way to a little art corner : )
