When we went to Austin for the Austin City Limits festival 2 years ago, we were searching for a good place for breakfast. I was 7 month pregnant and after walking around awhile, was pretty desperate to sit down. So, ignoring how fancy and expensive this place seemed, we went on in and got a table. Oh, my. It was the.best.breakfast.ever. So good, in fact, that we went back the next day. Which is something we never do while traveling. We are usually all about trying out as many new places as we can, but this place was just so good! The cafe was actually located inside this super swanky historic hotel in downtown Austin called The Driskill. It's the kind of hotel that we could never afford to stay at, but we hung out in the lobby people watching for awhile before heading back to the Super 8. : ) The cafe itself is called the 1886 Cafe and Bakery. Seriously, if you are in Austin and are looking for a breakfast place, go there.
The reason I am sharing this today, 2 years after the fact, is because I wanted to tell you about the tea I had with my breakfast today--Mighty Leaf Tea, Chamomile Citrus. I first had this tea at the 1886 cafe and it just felt so fancy to be drinking tea packaged in a silken tea pouch with whole tea leaves and spices instead of the ground tea in paper bags I was used to. Lucas bought me a box at Christmas and every time I drink it I feel like I am having something gourmet, just because the restaurant where I originally had it was so fancy!
So, below is my breakfast tea from today. Just because I felt like sharing. And yes, I am drinking it from a coffee mug set on top of a tea plate set on top of a child's chalk board table; that's our version of gourmet : )
Sounds yummy! Jeff and I love Teavana, if you haven't tried it. :)
