This week, I'm going with a video tutorial. I learned this technique for chopping onions a few years ago from the Food Network (don't remember which show....). I hope it is helpful! Please don't tell Lucas I did a tutorial involving knives...I make him nervous when chopping vegetables!

I learned the same technique thanks to Alton Brown on Good Eats, you can do the same technique on garlic cloves. And I think we have the same knives (Kitchen Aid red maybe?)
ReplyDeleteGreat! I want to know how to keep from crying when chopping an onion. That is why I don't use them but once a year at Thanksgiving and Christmas, making dressing. Did you cry?

i love it, Kelly!
ReplyDeleteNana-normally I do tear up a little when chopping onions, but I guess that one was a "low-fume" onion : ) Have you heard of onion goggles? Perhaps those would help!
ReplyDeleteputting vinegar on the cutting board helps. i used to volunteer at a food kitchen type place where i had to cut oninons every Friday for three hours! we used alot of vinegar!!
